At the United Nations, the Holy See enjoys,
among other things, the right to participate in the general debate of
the General Assembly; the right of reply; the right to have its
communications issued and circulated directly as official documents of
the Assembly; and the right to co-sponsor draft resolutions and
decisions that make reference to the Holy See.

On March 10,
2010 the Holy See Mission will sponsor
a Panel discussion
at UN Headquarters, entitled:
Globalization: It makes us neighbors, grasps equality between women and
men. Can it also establish fraternity? - In light of the Encyclical
Caritas in Veritate.

In the context of the 40th anniversary of the Holy See’s
Permanent Observer Mission to the UN, on 1 July 2004, the General Assembly
by acclamation, confirming and strengthening the rights of the Holy See as
a Permanent Observer in the UN.
